In terms of variety of vehicles, the third edition of the NSRA
Richmond Nationals was everything any red-blooded American car person
could want. From the early resto-rods to the beefiest of muscle cars,
with a sleek customs thrown in, the weekend of August 24-26, 2007 was
enough of everything to make for hours and hours of looking at and
talking about cool cars.
The Richmond Raceway Complex in Richmond, Virginia, again proved to
be a great venue for the event, with a place for the commercial vendors
to show off their wares, a Women's World with neat stuff for the ladies
and a cool place for the children games and entertainment. Add into the
mix a vintage parts swap meet and car corral, the Revell Make 'n Take
for the youngsters and a kid's coloring contest hosted by PPG and it's
easy to understand why three days of action seemed to fly by.
The spacious, well maintained grounds of the Richmond Raceway Complex
again proved to be ideally suited for the event, and the 2008
dates have been set for August 22-24, 2008.
The range of vehicles in attendance increased the classifications for
award vehicles making the "Circle of Winners" display prior to the
Sunday awards truly special. Honored were selections representing
Mustangs, Tri-Five Chevys, Mopars, Late Great Chevys and Corvettes, and
five special awards picked by ISCA, along with main-stay awards for
Pros' Pick: Outstanding Use of Color, the Specialty Vehicle Displays
selection, and NSRA Officials' Pick.
After presentation of the awards, the balance of the $104,000 in
Super Prizes was given away along with a brand new Chevrolet HHR, won by
Dale Crawford of Peterstown, West Virginia, all courtesy of the National
Street Rod Association. The 3rd NSRA Richmond Nationals was a taste of
Americana in automobiles, with something of interest for everyone.
