2008 CLASSICS ON THE JAMES FEATURING BRITISH AND EUROPEAN
MARQUES “The Tour of Europe Continues” September 13-14, 2008
(The field display will be on Sunday, September 14) - The
Central Virginia British Car Club has announced “The Tour of
Europe Continues” will be its theme for the 24th annual Richmond
Classics on the James Car and Motorcycle Festival..
“The Jaguar will be our featured margue this year. This show is
one of Jaguar’s national points events, so we expect a dazzling
display”, said Bruce Woodson, Event Chairman. “We are excited
about having the rest of the European cars (such as Ferrari,
BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porche, VW, Fiat, Citron, Maserati, Saab,
Volvo and many others) displayed alongside the British cars for
the fourth time in our twenty-four year history”.
The highlight of the annual two-day event will be the car show
on Sunday, September l4th from 9am to 4pm. “The show combines
the scenic location of the Island on the James with the backdrop
of the skyline of Richmond. Where else would you have the
opportunity to view some 300 of the world’s most unusual and
rare cars and motorcycles? Have fun with the family, while
enjoying food, prizes and the opportunity to view these fine
classics. Learn their history and why ownership of the vehicle
excites such pride”.
Car show participants will enjoy a variety of events on
Saturday, designed to showcase Richmond’s cultural landmarks
with an opportunity to display their cars. The Crowne Plaza
Hotel Richmond, located at 555 East Canal Street, will serve as
the gathering point for Saturday’s activities. Hotel
reservations may be made directly with the Crowne Plaza.
Entry of vehicles will be PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY!! The cost will
be $30 per vehicle and entries will close Aug. 10th. Class
availability may be limited. Spectator admission for the show on
